About Lori Mirek
With a background in finance and technology, Lori Mirek now acts as a World Affairs Council of Northern California board director. She also maintains involvement with the Harvard Business School Association, serving as board director of the organization’s Northern California chapter. Committed to civic organizations, Lori Mirek served on the Marketing Advisory Committee of the San Francisco Opera and was the board president for Cantabile Youth Singers. She holds a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from the University of Michigan and earned her MBA at Harvard University.
Ms. Mirek held eCommerce leadership positions with companies such as Netscape Communications Corporation, Oracle Corporation, and Ameritech Corporation throughout the 1990s. As founder, board director, and CEO of Silicon Valley-based Currenex, Inc., she spearheaded a transformative online foreign exchange platform that delivered significantly improved operational efficiencies and pricing transparency creating the industsry's premier provider-client network for global companies, institutions, and banks. The firm was sold in 2007 for more than $550 million. In recognition of Lori Mirek’s success at Currenex, Institutional Investor named her one of its Top 40 Online Finance Elite.
